South Africa burial records do you record a person already buried when someone is buried with them?

No. The previously deceased person would have already been indexed in their own batch.

I would be interested in the answer to this question - I am a reviewer - and when I called the toll free help line, I was told to index the name of the second person (the one with whom the first would be buried.) I am willing to change what I am doing, I would just like to know the "authority' of the answer. Thanks

@Wendy Brown1 I wouldn't trust the toll free help line over this community group. Sometimes they have very limited indexing experience.
It is difficult to answer a question without seeing the image and reading the project instructions. But, sometimes people are very experienced with the project and can answer because they have seen the occurrence over and over again, or there is a general indexing guideline that applies to the situation!
Generally, we only create a record for the individual and the EVENT that the document is recording. So, in the case of a burial, we wouldn't create a record for the previously deceased. We would only be concerned about the current burial being outlined on that document.
The project instructions would have a special instruction if we are to create other records from that same image. For instance, sometimes marriage records have baptism dates and certain record owners will add an instruction to index both a marriage and a baptism record from that one image. But, without that special instruction, we only record the event details of the marriage.
Hope that helps. If not, please share a batch code [XXXX-XXX] when you get another image like this.
