Bring back Stories to Memories PLEASE
Taking away the ability to share family oral history (stories) takes away something that made familysearch unique and awesome. Sites that simply show names, dates, relationships and attached records are common. What made this site great was the opportunity to share those stories with other family members. That is the key difference between genealogy and family history. As time marches on, those stories that connect us disappear. Your heart doesn't turn to your ancestors simply because you know what year they were born.
Plus, as a longtime contributor, it is frustrating to think of those many hours of collecting and entering in those stories are now are lost due to this new (NOT awesome) format. For example, I spent several hours deciphering and transcribing stories I found that my father had written about his childhood memories of growing up in a children's home (orphanage) during the Great Depression, or of collecting scrap metal in high school so he could earn a nickel and go to the movies to see the next installment of the serial he was watching. I entered that in because my nieces and nephews and their children and my own children never knew him. These stories brought him to life. Not all families are tight knit where those stories can easily be shared and as the number of generations increase, those stories get lost. How many stories that were thought to be preserved are now lost with this new version?

Where did you keep the oral stories?

Stories and audio files are still a part of Memories. When you a viewing Memories on a person in the Family Tree, click on the Filter button. Then you can separate out the different types of Memories on person. I just checked and all the Stories and Audio files we have uploaded are still attached in Memories to our family members.

You can also go to your Gallery: https://www.familysearch.org/photos/gallery
And at the top you can filter by type of Memory as well.

Video still not allowed, really?
We are converting a lot of Super8 and 8mms using the equipment at FamilySearch Library, to digital form.
What about the Deaf - they use sign language so that meant video, not audio. They have stories to tell and not being allowed.
