Records indexed wrong.
I have a "Montana County Marriage Record" that was indexed wrong. The image has two pages for two different couples. The indexer mixed the name for one of the pages with the other. Most of the people I have been able to edit and correct, but one spouse does not have an edit option, so I can not correct it. CAN ANYBODY CORRECT THIS? Everybody that I have contacted at Family Search tells me that this can't be fixed. If this is true then it needs to be changed. Wrongly indexed information is worse than no information. When people use this wrong information it soon migrates across the web and everyone copies this wrong information. It is much harder to correct than if it hadn't been put out there in the first place.

@Dale A. Wood You are correct. I have looked at several records in this collection and it appears that the editable fields are limited to the husband and his information. A new function is being rolled out that allows editing to be done in all fields in a transcription, but there is no time line on when this new correction function will be applied to these records. You may want to check back every once in a while and see it the Edit button provides more options. Until then, you can add a note to the source information explaining the error or create a new source with the correct info using the Source Box.
How do I create a new source in my source box?
Please let us know if you need further instructions. Maile 🙂

Hi @Dale A. Wood Would you mind attaching the link to the page that is incorrect. I would love to look at it to see if anything can be done.

Hi MaileLoveland.
Here is the link to the record. The spouses name, "Blanch Margaret Jones" is the part that is wrong.

Hi @Maile L
I have seen many examples of this error and have tried to send edits also, but @Dale A. Wood is right that some parts cannot be edited or changed by the user.
Can there be a third "arm" of the Index and Review Project, that looks at post-publication errors, and allows flagging of items that need to be re-indexed?

I don't have specific knowledge on this record set, but it is newly published to FS (5 March 2023). Since it is a print and typescript set of records, it may well have been OCR/computer indexed.
