Group by Birth Country
Is there a method available to generate a list of one's ancestors (including their name & DOB) based on their birthplace? Could a map pinning such places be an option as well?
Having my son recently visit Ireland, I wished to provide him with this information in order that he might visit and investigate the various locations. In order to do so, I had to literally check each ancestor individually and compose my own list which was time consuming to say the least when checking back to the 1700's.
I grouped ours by location listing all relatives under a specific town & county.
It would also be helpful if this could utilize a color coding system to denote which branch the ancestor belongs to.
Given the advances in DNA research and compilation of records, this would be of great use and information to aid our research.

There is not a way, currently, to do that directly from the FSFT. You can use third-party genealogy software (Family Tree Maker, RootsMagic, Legacy) to manipulate the data from your work on the FSFT into reports with of almost anything - location, longest-living, earliest-married, etc.

There are two possibilities for you to investigate - I commonly forget about them:
'Where am I from' activity:
https://www.familysearch.org/discovery/explore/generations
And the mobile Family Tree app (Android, iOS) also has a similar 'Map my ancestors' feature.
The generated lists remain in the app. Your Idea suggests future development possibilities of these apps.

This may be of some help, go to a Fan Chart, click on the Tool Icon then on Birth Place.

Thank you for your help! I had no idea about the activities page.

I’m preparing for a trip to Ireland as well, but my ancestors are beyond the 7th generation…they are 8-13 generations back. Is a 3rd part app the only way to output a list of names/records where Ireland was at least one life event?

The Family Tree mobile app (Android/iOS) - which has the Map my Ancestors feature - you can take with you. If you zoom in on Ireland it should indicate any people in the Tree that had events there (so it depends on records/events with proper location data). I am not too sure about whether it will go beyond 7/8 generations - so if you need 8-13 generations back - especially in Ireland you are lucky - but yes you would probably then need to sync to a 3rd party program as Áine Ní Donnghaile mentions above.
