Hello, I was recently asked about Indexing. The question is this: when reviewing a record, the form
Is the record indexed multiple times, and ultimately by different indexers, so that all pertinent information is captured, or can the indexer add space in the form for the children?

Thank you. I posted this also in the Indexing chat, and learned also that viewable items are governed by contract, so sometimes we may not be able to index everything on the record.

Can anyone in the @Indexing Chat answer this question?

No way to answer this without knowing which project it is. In most cases, though, we don't index all the information on the document. There's no need. We're creating an index to get the researcher to that image in Family Search. Once there the researcher can see the other information on the document.

Not without knowing which project they are working on. 😉

Hi! The record will not be indexed multiple time by different indexers. One only indexes the information needed for that particular project. The researcher usually can look at the actual document and see the other information. I have heard that sometimes the other information may be indexed in another project. I don't know if this is true. We just follow the Project Instructions for each batch. Hope this helps.
