Allow Quick Copy & Paste On Vitals

With the new version, one cannot simply click down and highlight information in the vital section (birth, death, and burial info) to then copy it and paste it elsewhere. Though this may not frustrate most patrons, those involved with research that requires moving information to other pages, like myself, find it difficult.

Perhaps you can illustrate how this is possible using the old version? I can only copy / paste one field at a time (i.e. date and place, separately). The only difference with the new version seems to be that (to do this) one has to first click on "Edit" in order to copy the Vital section detail elsewhere.

Like Paul, in the old version I cannot select more than a single conclusion (date or place, not both). The new version adds an extra click and a popup, but in exchange, I can select both date and place at once.

I personally like the new View Data option and feel that having the entire data block being a button that cannot be highlighted is a reasonable trade off since we can still highlight and copy in the View Data popup.

However, there is a new feature that does allow you to highlight just as much as you want. On any person's page go to the bottom of the right hand column into the Tools section and click Print. This does not actually print the page but rather opens a Print View in a new browser tab where one can choose a few printing options. In this browser page, large swaths of data can be highlighted and copied. Depending on where you are pasting it, you may still want to do just parts at a time.

The only flaw is that the line break between dates and places is not carried over. Copying and pasting the family members does not work very well, however. You get far too many paragraph breaks.

This new print feature doesn't have all the bugs worked out yet, at least for printing from Safari. The Family Members section does not print correctly.
