What is the association between KINPOINT and FAMILY SEARCH?
I used to have an icon on my iPhone "Take a Name" I thought that this was a Church icon. This icon has disappeared and in it's place is KINPOINT Take a Name. I am reluctant to use this as it doesn't appear to be a Church program. What is KINPOINT and why should Kinpoint access to Family History Temple information. Why isn't "Take a Name" a LDS Church help using an LDS icon?
In this day and age with all the scams on the internet why would KINPOINT access LDS Temple information. If KINPOINT is a legitimate program of the LDS Church, then please issue a statement so that LDS members would know. I looked under Partners on the FamilySearch website and KINPOINT is not named. So what is it?
At the FamilyHistory Library in Salt Lake City today, I asked missionaries about KINPOINT and none of them have ever heard of it. If it is a Church approved site then please let missionaries and members know. I have shown my LDS friends this icon on my phone and none of them know anything about it. I have since deleted this icon from my iPhone.

Kinpoint is a partner program with FamilySearch. All this means is they have written software (Take a Name) and gotten approval to use data points in FamilySearch. They are not a Church company nor Church sponsored program.
FamilySearch / the Church authorizes the use of Ordinances Ready within the FamilySearch software for getting a name for temple ordinances.

The icon is not representative of the Church and some people might not feel comfortable using it.

Kinpoint is NOT a church created app. The Take-a-name app is a FamilySearch approved app. Because Kinpoint is NOT the church, they do not use any images that might mislead people into thinking it is. Kinpoint is a non-profit company founded to help people get closer to their ancestors through family history.

Kinpoint's Take-a-name app is somewhat superseded by FamilySearch's Ordinances Ready tool which can be found both online and in the FamilySearch Tree app.

Mostly true. The FamilySearch functionality is limited to reserved or shared ordinances. It does not seem to find ordinances that are ready which I can do that I have not reserved or shared with the Temple. That is a big deal, and I spend many an hour trying to find those… help?
I simply not know where to find those ordinances other than “crawling through my tree”. Quite possibly there is already a way? Thank you for all you are doing!
