Faulty Memory - 1950s Census vs previous census attachments
Is it me?
I have been working through the family members adding the 1950s census source as appropriate. But something about the way it is working looks like it has changed. However, due to family health issues, this could just be my brain fog.
I have a family member. See the Blue Hint box. Click. 1950s census notice. Click to attach to person. Compare all the relevant people. Feeling awesome. -- Then I scroll to the bottom to be sure I have reviewed any 'others' that might be on the record. These might be aunts, uncles, cousins, or inlaws, grandkids, etc. that might be living with the head of household that year.
and I see a huge number (25) of others on record. This can occur when someone is a patient in a hospital, at a military base, perhaps incarcerated, in a poor house, etc. But it seems as if the computer doesn't recognize there are multiple families/houses/head of households on a regular page.
Is this how it is supposed to work? I thought it would not give you more 'others on record' if it was actually several different households.
So I go back to the top and click on 'Record' to review the actual census record and I see:
Where upon I go look at the original census page (Mooney is about 5 from the bottom):
And here is the next page:

No, that's not how it's supposed to work. The 1950 Census index has been having all sorts of problems; this may be one of them. (I haven't been paying close attention, as my parents immigrated in 1957 and 1967.)
