    The problem is, the place and date search fields are connected with a logical "or", not "and". It'll generally put things that match both parameters higher on the list than things that only match one, but if none of the good matches on the name match both the place and the date, then you'll see what's in your screenshot: impossible math (in which "between 1848 and 1848" includes the 1890s).

    (Another effect of the "over-helpful" settings in the algorithm is the inclusion of "Orange" and "Allen" as matches to "Noble" -- just 'cause they're all in Indiana.)
