Burial/Cemetery name

??
Source Linker adds burial locations just fine, and I can add a (fictional, in this case) cemetery name without trouble. What is it that the app is doing that the website isn't?

@RogerStroud Your suggestion has been sent to the relevant department. Thanks for contributing.

I'm sorry, but in my opinion and from my experience, the source linker doesn't do a great job adding burial information to the burial field in the profile of an individual record. It "strips" the cemetery name and also appends "United States of America" which results in a non-standard place name in the burial field. Of course, the burial field can be edited to make it standardized, but that is additional work and most don't bother.

It's been a year since I contributed regarding this issue. Nothing has changed. The desktop version of FS still does not transfer the cemetery name to the burial field, even if the cemetery name is in the source. The mobile version does it, why can't the desktop version?

@melville,dl - the "United States of America" addition is a result of the way the memorials are worded on Findagrave.com. The standard THERE is the full 4-word name.

Aine, yes I understand your comment about where "United States of America" comes from. As a result the burial place name does not meet the FamilySearch place standardization criteria. My desire would be to have the FamilySearch software engineering provide a fix for that. Seems like an easy fix to me (just saying).

I'm sorry to be argumentative, but the mobile application moves the burial cemetery place name over to the individual person record of burial place. Maybe the desktop application engineers could talk to the mobile application engineers. Just saying, it might me an easy fix. And I realize that there is probably a mile-long list of projects. But is sure would be helpful not to have to go back and add the cemetery name to the burial place name for each and every cemetery name.
By the way, I love FS.

Suggestions are sent to the appropriate team for consideration. You will almost never hear back on these ideas. Another way to submit feedback like this is through the Feedback tab found on many pages in FamilySearch. Since these tabs are page specific, your remarks go directly to the team that works on that area of the website. I guess you could provide your email address there and request a response, but I have no idea if you would hear back in that format either.

My intent is not to hear back from the team, my intent is to have an appropriate resolution. Please pass the cemetery name with the city, county, state, USA, instead of leaving the burial place name left off, then having to go back into the person's details for burial place and adding the cemetery name.
