US, Iowa—WWI Applications, 1923–1927 [Part A] - Pages in batch are not for the same individual

Hello,

So, when I bring up a batch for US, Iowa—WWI Applications, 1923–1927 [Part A], the pages in the batch are not always for the same person.

Do I use the reference images to get the information for the correct individual(s)? If so, do I index information for two people since the images presented for my batch are for two different individuals?

I'm doing a lot of reviewing for this project, and indexers are putting the wrong information in for the individuals on the WWI application. They are using the information from the document that is part of their batch, but that information is for a different individual.

Please advise.

I have indexed several of these and have also reviewed a few but have not seen this problem. Could you share the batch code so we can see what is happening?

How do I index when the 2 images are for the same document - front and back? Put all the information on the first one and mark the second as not to be indexed? Or fill out 2 forms - one for the front page and one for the second?

You will put the information on the first image and mark the second image; from where you get the Application State to the Application Year, as No, No Extractable Data. The examples in the Project Instructions show this.

Under the general indexing guidelines it addresses this issue:

What to Do When Records Span 2 Images or to View Additional Images

    • If the first record on an image begins on a previous image, don't index it. The record will be indexed as part of the previous batch. Start indexing at the first complete record.
    • If the last record on an image continues to the next image, index the entire record, including what continues to the next image.
    • To see the next image while continuing to index information for the current image, do the following:

    1. In the top corner of the image window, in the vertical toolbar, click the Reference Images

     icon.

    2. Below the screen on the right, click a thumbnail next to the image you are currently indexing.

    3. Index the record while viewing both images at the same time.

    4. To exit split screen mode, in the vertical toolbar, click the Reference Images

     icon.
