revise the fields
I have been indexing and reviewing for 2 years . I fail to see the necessity of a field for prefixes and suffixes. I have probably used those fields 5 times in 60,000 names. A total waste in my humble opinion..
Recently I have been doing immigration and naturalization records in the western district of Pennsylvania.
I find that the field information of the spouse is very sparse. The field asks for the spouses prefix.... but does not ask for her natural origin, This information is usually on the document. I would think that information would be far more valuable than her prefix.

The prefix becomes important for women in records when they used: Mrs. [husband's first name] [husband's surname] as their name (e.g., Mrs. John Smith). Or, if they are referred to as: Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, husband can be indexed without the Mr., but the Mrs., for the wife is needed to show she's female (if no gender field) and her relationship to John Smith (but it doesn't show her first name). These often come up in obituaries, and I've even seen a death record for a woman using her husband's first name with "Mrs." in front of it.
I also had a marriage license indexing project where the bride had to have a Miss or Mrs prefix entered. Just two examples of use in U.S. records. Not familiar with how other cultures use/used prefixes/suffixes in their language(s).
