If the application is filled out in a parent's name they are the applicant, not the spouse or child(ren).

    However, from project instructions:

    • If a naturalization document was filled out in behalf of a spouse or child, index the information about the child or spouse as the principal person. For documents created in behalf of a child, do not add entries in the data entry area to index the names of the parents.

Depending on the immigration laws at the time, spouses and children were given citizenship once their spouse/parent(s) were, and children born in the US were automatic citizens.

You only index the name of the applicant and add the spouse in the given name field. We don't create records for the other family members on the petitions.
