In the US, Texas, Gregg County—Marriages, 1873–1983 project, batch [MQSG-38L]

in the third entry, as one example, the groom has the suffix Jr. In other projects I have seen, you do not record Jr. or other similar suffixes, but in this case I have not found any project instructions on whether to include the Jr. or not. Because I am trying to review this batch, I would like to make sure that removing the original indexer's Jr. is the correct thing to do.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

If there is not a suffix field, you do not index Jr, Sr, etc. Researchers will find the name and then can see from the records if it is a Jr or Sr. I have not seen a batch that has a suffix field.

In the principal's given name field it does say not to index titles, terms, or suffixes with the name. Which in this batch is harder to notice since normally the groom is first, and that instruction usually applies to him. But it's a general rule not to put titles, terms, or suffixes in the name fields. They're not part of the actual name.
