Ability to find/display original date of joining
Recently I wanted to find out the date I first joined Family Search and was really surprised to find it is not noted anywhere. I would have definitely expected to find "Date of Joining" somewhere in my account or profile but alas, absolutely nothing to be found.
I have since found out that apparently there is actually no way to find this information, even though it must surely be recorded 'somewhere'.
After a search through old emails, I've checked through my email notifications, I can see I received an email back in 2010
"Thank you for registering with FamilySearch.org.
Your user name is: xxxxxx "
But, I also have an even earlier email from familysearchindexing.org dated 2008
Thank you for volunteering to help with FamilySearch Indexing. We are pleased to have you assist with this exciting work.
Your user name is:
User Name: xxxxxx
So I'm not even sure which is the more relevant?
However either way it would be great if this information was readily available. Either as a private detail within the user account, with perhaps the option to publicly display "Member since...." if anyone wishes to show such info.
Thank you for your consideration of this suggestion request,
Stephen

As with most ideas, it it very helpful for the engineers and designers to know why something should be done. You might want to explain your thoughts behind wanting to know.

For many years, we didn't even have to sign in to search on FamilySearch. Lots of folks didn't "sign up" until they had to.

The reason in this instance is irrelevant. Virtually every other service of any type either displays or allows the user to see their original date of joining. It's quite an anomaly that the information is not available.

The guidelines for posting in "Suggest an Idea" make it clear that the reason IS relevant:

The more detail you can provide the better. You can even include screenshots if it helps explain your idea.
Consider copying and pasting the following prompts to help guide your response.
What are you trying to accomplish? Why?
What is the challenge or roadblock you are encountering?
What is your idea?
How would solving this challenge improve your experience?

The programmers probably have lists of programming goals that are lists long. I'm sure that if you posted a pressing need it would get a higher priority (say maybe a year from now) whereas no particular need other than interest would give it a low to never priority.
It may be something that was never stored. It may not be very meaningful. All members of the church automatically had FamilySearch accounts as soon as the earliest version of the website opened because it was the same account as their church website account. So their "joining" date may be years before the first time they actually signed into FamilySearch.

I think part of the problem is illustrated in the question/suggestion itself: define "joining". Joining what? Indexing? Family Tree? Wiki editing? Contributing to Genealogies? Until relatively recently, those were the only FS activities that actually required a login, so it was quite possible -- even likely -- for people to have been using FS in its various forms for over a decade before actually creating an account. At the other extreme, there are LDS church members who've had an FS account of some sort associated with their church membership since the very first website iterations; do those count?
But if contributions to Family Tree are your definition of "joining FS", you can go to "My Contributions" and check your Stats tab for the year you started doing that.
