I'm trying to find documents on a possible relative Charles Smith born Gefle (Gävle?) Sweden 29 March 1933 . This information came off a mariners certificate.

I assume that name was anglicised and Charles = Carl but is there a natural translation for Smith or was it just adopted as a generic family name?
