Open up more original sources by separating them from locked down church books
The births in the Sierakowitz/ Westpreussen books starting at 1706 are still under the German mandatory lock of 110 years, because they are combined with records less than 110 years old. My suggestion would be to separate them and make 300 year old records accessible, which would be a great help to build the world tree.
with regards,
Andrea

It has always been a mystery to me why FamilySearch / GSU usually (though not entirely) felt the need to fill the whole length of microfilm with records. (Did nobody think of using scissors?) This led to records for totally different areas - let alone time periods - finding their way onto the one film. (Perhaps the aim was to save on spools, rather than lengths of microfilm!)
Apparently, your idea is a long-term aim of the organisation, but - given the extent of the problem - implementation will be a huge undertaking. Digitization of the whole microfilm collection would have seemed an ideal time to sort out the problem, but FamilySearch set a strict deadline for completion of the project, so appear to have kicked things into the long grass for now.
