Hi everyone

If the surname is present and then it may say see and it will have other spellings or similar spellings of the same name. Some people put all the forms of the name with an and between them and some just put the main written name. Which is correct?

Thanks

Tim

With given and surname variations, like McCormick and McCormack or Hannah and Hanna, the correct way to index is to separate the names by the word Or. With this batch, the indexer should have indexed this as McCormick Or Cormack Or McCormack in every entry.

I called the help line and asked this question when this project was running before and was advised to include all alternate spellings separated by Or.

I read carefully through all of the instructions and still do not find anything concerning this situation so I must assume that the advise is still the same.

    Hope this helps.🙂
