British buried abroad
My British family traveled as circus performers, all over the world. I've been fortunate to find many, many vital records and newsclips of them. Many years of searching.
My British grandfather died and was buried in Madagascar1872 (per his wife's and his son's obits). His death/obit was briefly mentioned in the papers, but 2 different locations were printed; one confirming what his wife's and son's stated of Madagascar, and the other version said death by Madagascar Fever in Canary Islands.
So, I'm initially inclined to believe the majority rule of Madagascar. His daughter was married in Tananarivo, Madagascar 1871, (per her child's birth record).
- Tananarivo, Madagascar or Teneriffe, Canary Islands of Madagascar Fever for 2 weeks. Untrained eye sees both cities as similar spelling.
- Name dropper, went by his middle name usually, but not exclusively.
- Stevens or Stephens. I've seen both spellings throughout the family records.
- Death late 1871 or 1st half 1872
Henry Peter Stevens b.1826 Bury, England. Family search ID 98MX-6YV.
How can I search this 1871-1872 death record?
How can I find marriage record for his daughter in Madagascar?
I tried using the Wiki, but I was not successful.
Thank you for guidance.

Thanks for that very interesting question. I will share what I can; however, there are probably other researchers that will hopefully provide much better answers.
FamilySearch has a collection, "United Kingdom, British Armed Forces and Overseas Vital Records, 1761-2005" that may be able to assist in part of your search. I did search the collection for deaths in Madagascar and the Canary Islands, but found nothing.
The British National Archives has a website that, if you have not already seen it, may be especially helpful. It provides links to other sites (e.g., Find My Past, Ancestry) that also have records that would respond to your search. Also, there is a link, "Contact Us of Advise" that you might consider.
Although you mentioned that you have tried using the FamilySearch WIKI, the Wiki page, "England Civil Registration" does show a number of websites, other that FamilySearch, that may also be helpful in looking for British, overseas records.
I hope that this may be helpful. Best of luck in your research.

You could look at The National Archives (UK) series of records RG
There is information about this series of records, and their availability online on Ancestry/Findmypast (pay websites) on the FIBIS Fibiwiki page General Register Office https://wiki.fibis.org/w/General_Register_Office
However my own feeling is that you would be lucky to find anything, but you never know.
You could also try the online newspapers on Findmypast/British NewspaperArchive. These are largely newspapers published in the UK, but you never know what may be reported.
Madagascar became a French colony in 1897, so if the family stayed there, you may be able to trace them through French records.
The FIBIS Fibiwiki page East Africa https://wiki.fibis.org/w/East_Africa mentions an Ancestry database
- "England, Andrews Newspaper Index Cards, 1790-1976", This is part of the Birth, Marriage & Death, including Parish, section of pay website Ancestry database and holds some genealogical information relating to countries in East Africa.
Edit: You could also try the Internet Archive https://archive.org and try a "Search text contents" for the family name in conjunction with circus, or other relevant search terms.
