Correction of indexed information
I just checked a research hint and saw that the death date was off by 100 years. As I looked at the image, I saw that all the dates on the page were indexed incorrectly. Instead of 1741 they should say 1841. I find mistakes in indexed information ALL THE TIME. It would be helpful if we could see the images at home so I don't have to come to the family history center to check them and make corrections when needed. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSVW-7S32-8?cc=2790181

I agree that open access to indexed images for all records would be nice. I like you - long for a day when such access to records is readily available. Unfortunately access is usually restricted by agreement with the record custodian/owner. Mistakes in indexing are plentiful. If the record index is not editable then you can make a note of the correction if/when you attach the record to a Tree profile in the Source Notes.
This does bring up the idea that if there were a dedicated location for corrections - in the attachment process - perhaps those notations could be collected for future edit passes/user correction fields. But I understand perhaps that solution - to edit indexes may be on the nearer horizon...

FamilySearch adopts a strange attitude to indexing errors. You'd think metadata errors would be worthy of receiving attention. After all, they usually apply to thousands of records relating to the same project, yet there is no set way to report them, let alone getting them fixed.
Most websites (large or small, commercial or staffed by volunteers) allow you to report, and then they correct, errors that apply to just one individual. Many of us remain dismayed at the seeming indifference to accuracy that persists here.
