US, New York, New York County—Indexes to Mortgagors, 1754–1890 [Part A] [M312-7SL]

in Indexing
When, after a name under mortgagor or mortgagee, there is an "and" sign in the form of a plus sign "+" connected to a lower case letter 'c', does this mean "and company"? Refer to the line "1890 Apr 8 Alder Simon +c". Does this mean "Simon Alder and Company"?

It probably is and Company but it is not a given fact. I would leave off the +c and just show the name. A researcher will see it and can him/her self determine what it means.
