A Link to share the family tree.
Hi, I am not sure whether a share link is available on your site, if not, why not?
What about a link to share the family tree with others in my family, but without them being able to edit it? I am sure, if they never displayed interest in it, this might awaken their curiosity and even assist me with facts and details that might help me further the search.
Just a suggestion, thank you.

I believe you don't have to be logged in to browse Tree profiles - so yes that's possible. I'll have to give an example later...
As Gordon shows below you can share links to profiles in the Tree. Using the discovery pages you can share such a link without having to be logged into FamilySearch (it's the discovery pages I was recalling). Here is an example - notice I am not logged in - also note the social media sharing icons (sharing a link via social media will probably act the same way - not require login to view profile - but to browse/traverse Tree they would need to create an account and login):
If they aren't logged in they cannot edit the profile.
If you are wanting to share a pedigree/descendancy tree without it being editable - you might need to save and share an image. Once a person logs into to browse the Tree - they can edit if they wish.

@genthusiast I just tried accessing the tree both by link and by searching by name, while not logged in. In both cases, FamilySearch required me to log in to proceed to the tree.

@Sidney656 There are share links all over the place in Family Tree.
But first I'll address what I think you might be asking. Due to privacy concerns and laws no one can see any of the living people we have personally entered in Family Tree. You cannot share your personal profile page with anyone. If you try, they will just get a "no such person" page. This is true for anyone you can see that says Living.
Now back to the rest of the tree. Since Family Tree is an open-edit, wiki-style, single database, everyone in the entire world has access to every deceased person in the tree. Everyone can visit your great-grandmother's page, for example, and see all the work you have done there, as well as all the work everyone else has done.
If you want to make sure other family members see that page for your great-grandmother, you can send a "share" link in the following ways:
- I can copy the person's ID number, send it to my relative, and explain how to use the ID number to find the page.
- I can copy the URL of the page and send it to the relative. When clicked on, the URL will to right here.
- I can use the Share function of my browser. If I click on it, it gives me the option to e-mail or text the link

The three options above will require the person who receives it to sign into Family Tree because I started on the Detail page. Notice that the URL has "details" in it.
If instead you go to the ancestor page, which you can get to by going to your browser's address bar and typing https://ancestors.familysearch.org/en/ and then putting your ancestor's ID number at the end it, then you can use options 2 or 3 to send a link that version of the tree. To look at that version you do not need to be signed into FamilySearch.
The ancestor page looks like this:
I assume it will be replaced by the About page for a person sooner or later. And I think the intent at some point is for people to be able to view the about page without having a FamilySearch account and without being signed in.

You can set up a Family Group which can also include friends and you can invite people to join your group. Then you may work on your tree collaboratively.
