Open new tab when looking at original record

I'm finding that when I try to look at a document that has a hint for the person, a new tab doesn't open like the older version did. This makes it very difficult to make changes that the document may help with. Why doesn't a new tab open? A new tab needs to open.

I agree! It use to open a new tab when I click on "View original Document". Now it doesn't. So if I click on the view document I then have to click on the back button to get back to the person's detail page. I know I can right click on view the document but it would be a lot more convenient to have a brand new tab open up with that document so I can look at the detail page on one screen and the document on the other.

Thank you for the amazing things you are adding and changing. This site is wonderful!!!

Unfortunately, it is just one of those things about the FamilySearch website in general: the result of any click cannot be predicted based on the interface. Therefore, it's worth it to just get into the habit of always trying a right-click first, and only using a left-click either if that doesn't work, or if it's an action you've taken often enough and recently enough to know what it'll do.

If you'd like to make this specific suggestion in a place where the programmers are likely to see it or have it directly communicated to them, please join the New Person Page group. I know there have been recent threads about the record hint sidebar's and the Sources tab's click behaviors.

I usually hold the "control" key down while clicking on anything that I want to open in a new tab. That seems to work for most applications. I didn't know about "right-clicking".
