regarding "promesse di matrimonio" in Catabria , 1818
I'm indexing villages in Calabria. I am working on a record from 1818 from Borgia, Catanzaro. It contains the matrimonial commitments.
It is Italia (Antenati italiani), Catanzaro-Stato Civile, 1809-1865 [MS58-G9N].
The instructions do not say to return/how toreturn clearly. The dropdown does not offer an option obviously for a matrimonial promise.
Do I return? Is there someway to notify someone, so it gets taken out of the queue? Or do I mark as no retractable data??
Regards
David

Hi David -
I'm not an indexer, but maybe this will help. Typically the Promessa di Matrimonio appears on a "split page" - with the Solemn Promise on the left and confirmation of the canonical marriage on the right. I cannot see the documents you are working with, but if it is like I just described, then you have an actual Marriage document in front of you and the Marriage date on the RIGHT is the date of marriage which is typically the same or a day after the Promessa on the left.
I sure hope that helps you

Follow up to David - after looking at the actual document you are seeing - I see that it is a true Engagement announcement - not a marriage. So if Engagement / Promise is not an option in the drop down, I am unsure of how you would proceed.
My best

Hello,
There are typos (sorry-autocorrect!) in my original message...should be "non-extractable" rather than non retractable....
