Literally, "Christian Name" - meaning first name.

What about Nomen Sec.? With the same batch. I am not sure if the name in the Nomen sec. columne the child's middle name or is it the last name?

I have the same question. Is Nomen Sec. the middle name or the last name. I found that Paganum is the middle name on a different document I did, but now there is a Nomen Sec. on a different one I am trying to work on. A Google search is of no help.

Nomen secundus. If you look under Project Instructions--a very good thing to do for every project--there is a Latin Genealogical Word List to refer to. For additional words not in there, Google Latin to English translation.

Many of these translation questions have been previously answered, you can try searching here by project and terms as well.

I have tried to understand "Nomen Sec." also. The Latin word list only helps that Nomen Sec means Name Second. So is that a middle name or a surname? I and the other indexers just need a simple answer. Thank you.
