@Chas Howell, one of the Betseys is read-only, so Douglas can't do the merge himself.

(There ought to be a sub-category of Family Tree here in the Community just for requests related to read-only profiles.)

I have seen this scenario so much and I have a question that continues to plague me, so I'm finally going to ask it. I don't have any ancestors who are read only, at least that I've found so far, but if I did, I would NEVER want to have a non-read only person merged with its read only duplicate. Reason? I would never be able to continue updating the read only version, only the non-read only duplicate. If they become merged, I will never have the ability to update again.

My approach would be to simply IGNORE the read only version and put my heart and soul into making the editable one complete, correct, and make sure it is connected to all the appropriate other people. If that means some person pages are going to show 2 mothers or 2 fathers or 2 siblings who are duplicates, it's NOT MY PROBLEM.

Why do so many people request this merge which means they will lose control?
