Why are some 1950 census records not available
For instance, this link (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6X16-9JT2) found in a search for a 1950 census record for a Mary Weir in Illinois leads me to a page which says
"We're unable to show this record to you.
This record can only be displayed on certain accounts. FamilySearch must honor the agreements we have with our partners, record owners, and internal policies."
I'm finding a a lot of these.

Every 1950 Census Record Hint Family Search offers me gives me that same excuse you posted above and I don't see anywhere on the site to report "bugs" to Family Search. I'd also like some clarification as to what "certain accounts" can see those records....

When attempting to attach a 1950 Census record from hints, I have received the error message, "access to this record is denied" which I don't understand and sounds "punitive". Anyone else had this experience?

I had this issue a few days ago. I kept getting the message "We're unable to show this record to you." when I repeatedly tried to view a 1950 census from the hints of one particular individual. So I changed to another person that I knew was on the census and clicked to view it from their hints. Then it worked and I could see the census and attach everyone to it. I don't get why that worked but it did.

Based on what I've seen, and the history of how the 1950 census was introduced into FamilySearch, I hazard a guess that the problem is that some states are set up with the 1950 census records fully included, and able to be attached to profiles, while other states are not ready. But it seems really simple, to my mind. If the records aren't ready for a particular state or region or county, then keep them out of the mix. I shouldn't see any hints for records that I can't attach to a profile. If the records aren't available, then don't add them to the search indexes yet. It makes FamilySearch look sloppy when records are offered, but not available. And if the general users can still help in the indexing effort, then why was the indexing project shut off?

I am having the same problem with many records in Kentucky to include my Grandparents, which were referred to me as a “Hint”. Also am experiencing partial family members being available for search and attachment but not others in the same family. Can’t believe this is happening with all the time and effort spent in family grouping. Very disappointing

Yes, I've now seen this happen the same way. My grandfather's page gives me a hint for the 1950 census, but clicking it gives an error. A search for his census record gives the same thing. But I can see the record by searching for my grandmother, because that link to the 1950 census does work. Even though I can see the record, it gives no option to attach it to his page.

I'm still getting this same error why is it? Can someone please explain why this is happening still? is there anything that can fix it?

@SusanRobinson95 can you give me more details please? What exactly are you seeing? Do you have a link I can examine that shows the error?

@Ashlee C. based on the descriptions from this old (2022) thread, this is likely an issue with the viewer/editor - once someone corrects a spelling, the index disappears.
