The archived website (archived at 28 March 2020) mentioned in the post above is
There are some later archived versions, but they don't display properly for me.
The site says "This site includes Settlers from the British Isles to South Africa during the 19th century,
particularly those who went in 1820, but also many who arrived before and after that
year. Information has been drawn from Settler files at the Albany Museum and Cory Library in
Grahamstown, South Africa; South African Death Notices (DN); Colonial Office papers (CO);
and the International Genealogical Index (IGI)."
Edit: Only a few entries in the website appear to have been archived.
As he died in Natal, (from the FS record URL quoted above) you could try the collection South Africa, Natal Province, Civil Deaths, 1863-1955
The records quoted by PaulW above are from Cape Archives Depot, Cape Town, which would be different to Natal.
The FS record looks to me as though it is a transcription from a newspaper obituary, however I don't know what the reference Natal DN F449939 image 387 means. Possibly a microfilm at Albany Museum and Cory Library in Grahamstown, South Africa? Maybe @AmberDaly2 could contact that Library.

It would help if you could provide a sample URL reference to where you are seeing this. Sometimes this message is not to be taken literally, as the image might be available on FamilySearch, just not via an indexed record.
I have found the following in the Catalog that might relate to what you are seeking:
This appears to have the same collection title, but the page shows records that are available for viewing. I clicked on the camera icon alongside the different film numbers and got straight to the images.

Hi Paul,

Thank you!

I appear to be a little out of my depth here! The Digital Folder Number is shown as DI0001077 against the source, but this does not represent any DGS reference.
Perhaps someone could advise of the possibility of finding an image, based on either this reference, or on one of the films listed on the page for which I provided a link earlier. The contents of the films are not in the format I expected, as they include handwritten letters along with the "Genealogical Records". The individual in question - William Parker DOWNS - possibly has papers relating to him on one of these films, but a quick look at film number 008119650 shows records for a person with the surname DOLD are followed by someone named DREDGE. Perhaps the record in question is covered by this film, but names do seem to be in alphabetical order, but there appears to be no index included.
I might have missed something, so you can have a look yourself, but you could be wasting your time.
Sorry I cannot help further.

Thank you for trying. Appreciate your time and input.

There was an index on film 008153878, after all, but no trace of any DOWNS (or PARKER). The record in question must have come from another collection listing South African settlers.

The landing page for the collection indicates
"Records from this collection were obtained from the retired website http://www.southafricansettlers.com with permission from the creator, Margaret Bury."
You may be able to find more detail on the Wayback Machine.
