I believe I am related to QEII two ways. She is my 14th cousin from Mary Boleyn to Cheneys (Grandmother) and 10th cousin once removed from Edward Conway to Howells. I live in America and my name is Howell.

My father, Professor Foster R. Myers was invited to Elizabeth's coronation and could not find out what connection was there. The Myers family was originally from the Hanover area. I have recently found that I am 10th cousin from Dianna, Princess of Wales.

The Relative Finder tools cut off several generations too soon to report out UK Royal connections for almost everybody but maybe it would be a good project to populate a dataset with the great-great-great grandchildren of Edward III and use that to bridge the gap for many users to find their line back to royal connections?

What a thoughtful idea to share this important informational tool! I really enjoyed using the relative finder. However, this article should be named for the "English" royal family since there are MULTIPLE royal families throughout the world. Thank you! 🤔

What a surprise - 24 hours before her funeral today 19 September 20222 I discover Queen Elizabeth II is my 11th cousin once removed from my father's side of the family. Siblings Captain Ralph Sneyd (1564-1643) is who I descend from and Ralph Sneyd's sister, Mary Chetwynd (b1541) is who the late Queen Elizabeth II descends from.

Ok, I'm the 13th cousin twice removed of the Late Queen Elizabeth II

    She is in FamilySearch.org as

Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor II

Queen is the title, E A M is the first name, Windsor is her last name and II is her Suffix

    21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022

    G71M-BYY

Then in the top left corner click the squiggle view my relationship.

I only wish to correct the data entry of my fellow users and 'distant cousins'.

By using the correct standard formatting for profiles, adding profiles created by other users to your trees does not create unnecessary duplicates. By not using standard formatting, duplicate profiles are created. This becomes a problem with MyHeritage who do not give users the abilty to merge profiles.

H.M EIIR should not have the Roman Numerals listed as a Sufix. They are part of her Title that should be with her name. The type of Title - Queen, Duchess of Edinburgh, Baroness Greenwich are all listed as suffix. The Numbering system of the late H.M. EIIR's minor titles of Duchess of Edinburg, Baroness Greenwich should be listed in the Suffix.

The correct title for Bloody Mary would be Name: Mary I; Title: Queen of England; Nickname: Bloody Queen Mary.

The correct title was Elizabeth II, not Elizabeth 2nd. Monarchs always use Roman Numerals, not Ordinal Numerals.

Why is this important? A lot of the errors in many family trees are due to people desperately trying to tie in to royalty.... Hum, same issue with Mayflower....

For anyone who is interested in the answer to this above question,

please read the documents at the following links:

For me, it is a show of respect for both the living and the deceased. For a King, Queen, Emperor, Empress, the roman numerals are next to their chosen name = Elizabeth II; Charles III etc. In USA for example, there is the use of Sr. ; Jr.; III, IV, V etc. These roman numerals are actual suffixes and are never placed next to the Christian / First Name. 1st, 2nd, 3rd are numerals used with the title of Duke and below.

I am the first to admit that I have made mistakes in my genealogy research. If someone points out an error, I like to know why and appreciate the correction.

At times it can be frustrating when the title King of Scots is the correct title for the Bruce and then Stewart / Stuart monarchs before the joining of Scotland with England. Then the title becomes king of Scotland. King of Scots = King of the People. King of Scotland = King of the Country.

This is cute, but like so many features on Family Search it's based on whatever someone's entered into the crowdsourced tree, which is full of errors. Just for fun, I clicked on Queen Elizabeth II and was told I was a 10th cousin. However, the line it traces for me is wrong, because someone substituted an early American ancestor for another person with a similar name. I do kind of wish FamilySearch would lay off the "famous relatives" thing, but I suppose it's a way to attract users.

This is pretty neat, I'm a distant cousin through the Brake line of my family which comes from my great-grandma's dad's side of the family, all the way back to our common ancestors who were Philip VII Count of Waldeck-Wildungen and Countess Anna Katherine through their sons Christian and Josias.
