Having vision problems, I really miss the blue highlights. Can they come back?

Could you give more details, please? Are you referring to highlighting while Indexing, or in another context?
If you need a general-purpose reading guide that you can use to highlight or underline while you read on a Windows computer, the FREE program "A Ruler For Windows" (Nickname = AR4W) by the outstanding Canadian programmer Rob Latour is great for that purpose. You can change the color, transparency, length, thickness, etc. to suit your needs. Note that it only works on Windows computers. You can use it while indexing as an alternative to the built-in Web Indexing Ruler. You can move it around the screen by pressing on and dragging it to where you want it.

As an example In the image below, using AV4W I've created a reading guide with a "Highlighter" Blue background color (R=48, G=197, and B=255) and around 50% transparency.

Another way to enhance the readability of browser text and reduce eye fatigue is to invert the colors - giving you light text on a dark background. Dark Reader is a FREE full-featured browser extension that works for Chrome, Edge, etc., and allows you to do this. Here is a link to the website where you can read more about it and download it. I've used it for years.
