Please can you go back to the old site?
I used to love this site because it was so easy to search. Since you changed it to a complicated system of options it has become almost impossible to tie down specific information. For instance, if you put in a surname and spouses surname looking for a marriage, all kinds of things and people that you don't want are clouding the issue. If there is no specific record for what you want, say so, don't throw up random, hardly ever related ideas. Very hard to tie anything together.

One thing we know for sure is that we won't be given the option to "go back to the old site". Having accepted that fact, I have worked hard to find ways of cutting down on the thousands of irrelevant results many users still claim to be getting in what they intended to be a very specific search.
For example, if you just want records from the census, you need to filter specifically on those collections. Also, use the "Exact" option (combined with the use of wildcards) when you are quite sure of the spelling of a person's name, or a place an event took place.
Of course I still have problems with getting unwanted items in my Results list, but I found that to be the case with the old search interface, as well. It always helps your argument if you post examples. Firstly, this can lead to suggestions from others to get around your problem or, secondly, will highlight any genuine problems with the "new" search engine to the FamilySearch engineers, so they can continue to work on improvements.
I am not dismissing your criticisms at all, just suggesting that there are ways of getting around many of the problems users seem to be experiencing.

Yes, there were too many irrelevancies also on the old site as well, but it didn't seem to have all these different confusing options that don't do what you want anyway. I have used exact when it applies, but with spelling being what it was, and possible transcription errors, it's not a good idea in most cases. All those extra options don't seem to narrow down the search much if at all, and seem to make it harder to find what you want. And one of the worst things is that I have previously found a record there and when I have revisited quite some time later with the specific name, location or date or whatever, the record doesn't appear immediately as it should with specific info. I tend to go to Ancestry for census information as I find it easier with images etc. This site used to be a Godsend but it's a bit of trial now. Even Ancestry.co.uk is clogging home pages up with stuff that you can find from the normal links. I got round that one to a great extent by setting the search page in my bookmarks and avoiding the homepage, and can still access DNA etc, when needed from there.
