Hello.

I am an indexing the above batch from the Middlesex Parish Registers. Please could someone help with a word in the 4th to last entry on the first page? It looks like " a ffemall (female) chissenne of Thomas Pratt" and I have no idea what that is. Several entries record a "femall child" or "a mall child" but there are quite a few in the preceding and following images (which those heping won't be able to see) with the same term, sometimes it's "a mall chissenne", though the spelling does vary as it tends to do in these old records.

I would hazard a guess that it's not a direct relative of the person named afterwards and so could only be recorded as a female or male who had died on a specific day. It did occur to me, though, that it could be a term for a stillborn baby, so should be recorded.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks, Hilary.

    Hi,

    Thanks for trying.

I copy below a screenshot of the entry. which is not as helpful as being able to see the whole document, but better than nothing!

    Hilary.
