No telephone service in my FHC
For almost a month now I have had no telephone service. The phone has a crackling sound when you turn it on. When I call the number I do not get a "this number is not in service" message. The FHC needs phone service. The FM group has already refused to service it saying is it not their responsibility anymore. My Stake Clerk has messaged Church headquarters about it but no news or answer. Some of my patrons drive quite a distance to come visit our FHC. Being able to call ahead to know that we are open is valuable.

The phone service at our stake building was out of service and no one complained except for the Family History Center. We asked for a private line and got one. That solved our problem.

Who did you ask for the private line and was it a land line or a cell phone, I have herad that we should be able to get a cell phone but I can't find anyone who knows how.
So any info would help.
thanks for the answer.

We got permission from the Stake President to have a land line installed.

We have the land line. It just doesn't connect.

The phone company could check your phone line to see if your line is working. They will repair the line if the problem is out side of the building. If it is inside of the building the Stake should see that is repaired. It may be a loose wire or a defective phone.

Phone company is through Salt Lake and we cannot get any answers from them. The local FM group says it is no longer their concern. This is maddening.

I am not connected with FamilySearch.
For North American FHCs there is a Group "FamilySearch Center Technical Support"
https://community.familysearch.org/en/group/76-familysearch-center-technical-support
You would be required to join this, but there seems to be more "official" response to queries posted there.

I have been a part of this for over 2 years. I will talk to them tomorrow night.
