FamilySearch Phone Number

Just wondering where to find the announcement terminating the FamilySearch phone number (866-406-1830). We give that number out and patrons are telling us the phone number no longer works. And they are right. We would like to find the announcement so we can pass it along. Couldn't find anything on the blog; it must exist elsewhere. So disappointed, so rude.

Hi Janice, I received this e-mal from familysearch on August 5, 2022 about discontinuing the phone service. This may assist you to find the info now. Here's what they said:
Starting on September 1, 2022, FamilySearch will provide live support to its patrons through “scheduling appointments on Google Meet” on all days of the week. This simple meeting technology enables faster resolutions to patron issues through screen sharing and real-time assistance.
Earlier this year, FamilySearch introduced this virtual appointment option to receive support on weekends. This new technology has now been used by thousands of patrons with great success and will soon be available for all days of the week.
What does this mean to you? FamilySearch will continue to provide free support to those who use its services. This support will now be delivered through the FamilySearch Community and by scheduling an appointment with Google Meet.
The new option to schedule a live virtual appointment will replace the old phone-based support system starting on September 1, and live phone support will be discontinued at that time. Scheduling an appointment has proven effective to address urgent issues as well as providing patrons with flexibility to schedule meetings at convenient times in the future.
Learn more about these support methods as well as other personalized assistance available through FamilySearch by visiting the North America Support page on FamilySearch.org.
We look forward to continuing to support you as you learn more about your family on FamilySearch.
Sincerely,
FamilySearch North America Support Team

The new system for "Help" is completely unworkable, particularly for older people who typically don't have a computer with video or a microphone and relied on telephone contact.
The system asks for a "Helper number", but never tells where or how to find that number. Most older folks would never figure out that you must go to Settings and then to Permissions to find this number. It is not a requirement, but since they cannot find it they go no further and there questions remain unanswered.
I realize that most younger people are more tech savy and can navigate the system, but is not working for those who are older and use Family Search more often.
