Search Records - Person's Details
In the Search Records window, when I click on the person’s name at the top of the Search, it used to expand that little top window to see more information/details about the individual, such as parents, husband, siblings, etc. Now when I click on the person’s name, a new window opens to the right side of the screen that shows all the information about that person, which is very nice, BUT I cannot adjust the search criteria while I am looking at the vital information as I did before (because the pop-up window covers the search criteria window). We need to be able to SEE the information and ADJUST the search at the same time; not one or the other! When the top window expanded, we could do both things. With the new pop-up window, we cannot do both. Please don’t change this feature or adjust the new pop-up window to be a floating, moveable window (not docked) so that we can see the info and adjust the search at the same time. If I want to return directly to the Person Page it now takes two clicks instead of one. Is there a way to be able to still click on the person's name in the upper left-hand corner to return directly to their Detail page?

@jillstewartgibson As you noted, when you go to search records from a person's profile in Family Tree, you see basic information about the person just above the search results. If we understand correctly, you are concerned about 2 issues:
--not being able to click the name to return to the Tree profile
--after clicking the name, you can no longer edit the search terms
The Suggest an Idea portion of Community is the best place to suggest improvements to FamilySearch. Here in the FamilySearch Help area, we primarily assist in use of the current state of the website.
So, let's look at what shows after you click FamilySearch from a Tree profile. The search auto-populates the vitals that showed on Tree for the person. You can see and edit that part of your ancestor's profile in the search terms area without clicking the person's name above the search results. As you noted, when you do click the name, you also see spouse, children, parents, and siblings overlaying where search terms were. As currently set up, you can then click the small X in the top-right of the panel and then click Search in the top-right of the search results to see and edit the search terms. We agree that one click would be preferable for getting back to seeing the search terms.
When you come to Search from Family Tree, FamilySearch opens the Search screen on a new tab, so you can simply click the tab to the left of the search tab (where you should see your ancestor's name) and you'll be back in Family Tree. Given the 2 clicks required to get back to the search terms if you click the name above search results, toggling between tabs might be the easier way to look at more details while manipulating your search terms.
Sorry that we can't solve the problem here in the Help area, but hopefully you now have a different option to try out and we hope you also suggest the improvements you'd like to see by clicking Suggest an Idea here in Community.
