but again - its nothing to do with FamilySearch
its the setting on the specific computer and OS.
totally out of the control of FS.

I sometimes think it should be required behavior in this community to fill out a form at the start of every post:
- Computer or device:
- Operating system and version:
- Browser or App:
- Browser or App version:
It would cut out so much confusion. We could have shortened this conversion considerably and cut right to: Macs automatically include the links. Windows does not.

Its not a matter of Windows / Mac
It is the specific print to PDF that is configured on the machine - as well as the config settings for it.
Im sure there are Windows that will include the links -- -
like I said - there is no consistency as to how print to pdf works . . even on the same OS you can see a multitude of differences from one computer to the next - because of manufacturing installs that are different for different brands and models. (though probably much more consistency on the MAC because its just one company)

I just meant that I can't comment whether all websites at all times allow my Mac to retrieve all links when generating a PDF from their website. I have no idea if you can code a website to prevent that link harvesting.

In most cases it will not be the web site that controls that
it will be your unique computer
the fact that the links are on the web page - displayed by the browser - means that the browser already knows about the links (they cant be hidden if they are going to work) - and if they are not hidden - then they are harvestable -- to use your term.
its not they cant be harvested -- its merely the methodology that the specific print to pdf is using to genrate the pdf - in certain metholodgies/configurations its just not designed to replicate the urls.

If your web browser offers Export to PDF, that is what you should use.

can you be a little more specific as to what browser has that option?
each browser and OS is going to have their own lingo, their own options, their own "offers"
and even with that all -- certain add--on utilities can enhance and change that
there is no single one best way -- it depends on the machine and installed software.

End result is the same as choosing Print then "Save as PDF."

Returning to an aspect within control of FamilySearch, I wish that when I flip one of those arrows to expand part of the descendancy tree, it would expand the number of generations I selected. So, 1, 2, 3, or 4 at once. Currently, flipping expands only 1 generation no matter what number is selected.
