The historical deed and marriage records for Wasco County Oregon are now not viewable. The record have been available for over a decade but now says to visit a partner. Who is now in charge of these records?

Thanks

According to the Wasco County Inventory on the sos.oregon.gov website, those records are still available on FamilySearch. https://sos.oregon.gov/archives/records/county/Pages/wasco-inventory.aspx

The FS catalog is undergoing a makeover, meaning there may be changes/glitches/problems until everything is finished.

@Gorgegal63 - I believe the Collection that you are referring to is "Oregon, Wasco County Records, 1854-1960." The description that goes along with this collection is, "This collection includes digital images of land and marriage records filmed at the office of the Wasco County Clerk in The Dalles, Oregon. This collection is being published as images become available."

Try it and see if this is the collection in question. If not, let us know and we'll dig a little deeper.

I had tried that same browseable record set yesterday, and I got the not available message. Today, I can view the first couple of images I tried.

I suspect there may have been a temporary hiccup, as I suggested yesterday.

@Gorgegal63 The url you provided just took us to a "page not found" error message. Would you please provide a few more details so we can replicate the problem?

I see a record collection called Oregon, Wasco County Records, 1854-1960 which has browseable images. My guess is that this is where you are looking. Is this where you ran into the problem: https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/1927592 ?

If so, can you try again? Be sure you have signed in. It is often helpful to clear your FamilySearch cookies (you can do it at familysearch.org/cookies) I signed in with a public account and images are opening up just fine for me. So, maybe you were looking somewhere else. Or maybe if you try again, it will work.

If you continue to have trouble, please provide lots of details so we can replicate your experience. Thanks.

I can confirm Áine's experience: once I found the collection using its number (because the link in the post doesn't work) and clicked the "browse" button, the single intermediate waypoint of "Wasco" came up, but all of the 230-odd items below that that I tried yesterday resulted in the "viewable at an FHC" message. Today, all of the ones I tried worked just fine.

Thank you, its working today. These records I have used for years and suddenly they were not accessible. They work now.

    Thanks for responding!
