Portrait and Coat of Arms

When I have a source with a Coat of Arms for the family, I attached it to each individual who has the 'display' of the Coat of Arms into their Memories. Not every member of a family has a Coat of Arms available on their source.

Question: Is it okay, as long as there is no available portrait, to ALSO post a copy of the Coat of Arms in the Portrait Circle?

Thank you for your help.

Coat of arms, rarely if ever belong to a SURNAME or a FAMILY in general.

They were usually granted to a specific INDIVIDUAL by the crown and usually its use was only inherited by the oldest son.

The term "Coat of arms for a family" is usually a mis-used phrase,

For the reasons stated above - personally I don't think its appropriate to post the arms for anyone other than the person who was originally granted the right to bear such arms. Arms are not granted to a family/surname in general.
