More than 4 generations for descendancy list?
A patron asked me if she could do a descendancy list for a person who was born in the late 1800s. Only the first four generations showed. Is it possible to print more than the 4?
I noted that in printing family chart or a pedigree chart that only 4 generations are available.
Your advice, please?

Is this the patron's own decendancy? Normally, only they can see their decendancy tree because most or all of it would be in their private tree space.

Here is the process for getting more than four generations that dontiknowyou described. When you try the same, where do you seem to get stuck?
1) Go to the person's tree view:
2) Set to descendancy view:
3) Under the settings icon, choose 4 generations:
4) Click on every sideways pointing arrow to open one more generation:
It took me about twenty minutes of clicking to fully open this chart. a few lines went out 10 generations:
I could print this chart or save it as a PDF through my browser's print function. I don't see any Print function on the website for this chart but my browser Print PDF generator kept the formatting just fine:
It was 33 pages with the portraits off, 69 with the portraits on.
So this is doable. But you really have to want to do this and be willing to put in the time to click on all those arrows.
The 4 generation limit on the automatic display is probably put in place because descendancy charts can quickly get much larger than this and take a lot of server resources and time to generate.

In the web interface the descendancy tree view can be expanded beyond 4 generations by flipping each of the little circled arrows to the left of the names from pointing right to pointing down, before printing to PDF. The PDF can run to many pages but it is usable.
Please let us know if that works for your patron.
Another option is the circular tree that FamilySearch partner Puzzilla provides. My profile image here is an example of a Puzzilla tree, very low resolution snapshot. Puzzilla trees are interactive. I find Puzzilla very helpful for finding quickly where a descendency tree is incomplete and needs more work.

Thanks, but right now I'm still stuck. I went to the person's person page,> tree, see the pedigree chart for that person. Then, on that page, I see a drop-down menu with the heading "Landscape." I select "Descendancy. " Then a list of his sons and daughters appears below his name. No other descendants, and I wonder where they are. I will try with another person who has a host of descendants.

That happens. What did you see instead of this?
