Source Attaching

In the new person page I cannot add a source to a specific person under the following circumstances. My individual was married twice. He has died and both of his wives are mentioned in his obituary. However the attachment process will allow me to attach the obituary to one or the other of the wives, not both. Both wives show as spouses. Please correct this issue.

Is this an indexed obituary or an unindexed image/document?

If it's indexed, does the index correctly show both wives as wives?

The source can, in fact, be correctly attached to everyone mentioned, but the exact method depends on the details, such as the answers to the above two questions.

I can't come up with an equivalent situation in my "corner" of the tree, so I can't demonstrate. Any chance of the relevant PID?

    My workaround:

    example in census:

Go to the record and select the name you want to attach.

after the page reloads, select "Attach to family tree".

    Supply the ID #:

The Source Linker is actually very flexible and you can nearly always just shuffle the entries until things line up properly to get everyone attached without leaving the source linker. You just have to find all the controls first. @jwguthrie , it sounds like you have not found one of the more frequently overlooked controls.

If the person in focus position has more than one spouse, only one spouse is listed at a time. To the right of that spouse is a small black rectangle with a white arrow in it. Click on that to choose the other spouse or no spouse at all. Once that other spouse is showing then move the spouse in the source to that position to attach. Sometimes you may need to move the spouse to be the focus person to fix the alignment.

If that is not the issue, please post the ID of the man involved and the source you are having problems with so specific step by step instructions for getting that other spouse attached can be given.

(Now on a computer I can do screen shots with.)

If you have a situation like this:

where the source linker initially insists on lining up the wrong spouse, click on the black rectangle to change the Family Tree information to the correct wife on the right:
