Emojis should be removed from Memories
I have recently noticed a trend of people adding emojis to FS instead of photos or documents. As a researcher, I find this appalling. The images attached in Memories should be historically relevant: either photos and documents OR stories, histories, experiences directly relevant to the life of the individual they are attached to. This is not the place for generic items of no historic relevance.
I would like to see the screening program for appropriate images to be improved to screen out emojis or cutesy, artificial images.
I am particularly annoyed about this at the moment because someone (a 7th cousin) recently went in to my g-grandmother's family and added an emoji to each of the children in the family, using it as their portrait picture, replacing several actual photos! I sent her a politely-worded letter in English (which may not be her language) explaining that the appropriate image for a portrait is a photo of the individual. There has been no response. I may resend the information in French in hopes of communicating directly with her.
It also occurs to me that inputting emojis all over FS might actually be a kind of cyber attack. It would be wise to prevent that from happening to the system.
Thank-you for considering my suggestion. I think it will greatly improve the appropriate use of the site and at the same time remove silly, wasteful or even deliberately bad use of it.
