How do I add a document to memories?

Hi, I didn't receive an answer to my question.

Did you try to send me a message? I didn't receive it if you did.

Have you considered uploading it as a FamilySearch Memory?

Hi Dennis,
Yes, actually uploading to Memory would by good. I haven't done that with this. However, here's the thing. I have the actual Portuguese death record in Portuguese, and then I have the English translation. Can I get those both on the same page, and do they have to go into a Word page first? Thanks so much for responding.

Dennis, I'm going to try saving the two documents as a PDF. One is the actual Portuguese "Death Record" and the other is when someone from the Community resources sent me the English translation. So there are two documents. Somehow I thought I should add them into Source information. I've just never done it before. Thank you for helping.

just a suggestion: you could just save them as ONE pdf.

There are ways that a Memories item can be referenced as a source But others can explain how that works better than I can.

Dennis, That's exactly what I would like to do, is to save them as ONE pdf. I'll just have to figure that out because that's the way I want them to be. Thank you so much for your communication to want to help.

simply copy and paste both items into a single Word doc and then save as pdf.
(I'm assuming you have both files in original word format?)
if you dont have original word files - but just pdf files - then you can use a utility service like ILOVE PDF
to merge multiple pdf files into one

Dennis, The one document is in Portuguese, and was copied from a link that I had sent to the Community.
Then I received a translation back from a Lucia which is below it in an email back to me. It's just a puzzle for me as to how to get them together in Word. I know what you're saying, I'm just not sure how to do it. I think I need to go on family search to have a consultant that can look on my screen with, do you call it, SPLASH?

Good Day.

Assuming you have two WORD documents
1) open your first document (Portuguese) - select the entire document text and COPY it
2) Open your second document (Translation) and place your cursor where you want the original portuguese text to be
3) and PASTE the previously copied text (from step1)
4) then save the document - which now has Portuguese and translation.

That sounds so smooth.; however, Just to let you know, they are not in a Word document yet. It just came to me by email, and the Portuguese part I got from a link. It seems I would need to have a Word "Text blank page" opened before I start the process, right?

it really doesnt matter - just pretend they are word documents - again simply copy and paste
yes - open up a blank page Word document and copy and paste both items one after the other.

It just isn't working. It's because I totally do not know how to do it. Thanks for trying to help. I'm going to need a one on one if I can get to the local family history center here next week.

any friend/neighbor/family who has experience copy and pasting text should be able to help you out.

Hi @LX3S-1JT
I understand that you wish to include a document for a Portuguese death certificate as a source as well as a memory here at FamilySearch. If you have done as suggested and created a two-page document which contains both the original Portuguese document and also the English translation, you can use that memory as a source by following the instructions in the following knowledge article which is found in our Help Center.
Sources can be created using a URL for a record, or using a Memory that you have already uploaded or that you intend to upload to your Gallery as described in the article. These Sources have a unique icon that allows others to recognize that an image will be provided for the source.
The option to Add a New Memory Source is only available for those ancestors who are deceased. I hope this information is helpful as you continue to work with sources and memories that track the life events of your ancestors.

Not working so far. I'm needing to speak to someone directly, and have been trying to schedule the appt. so they can see what I'm referring to. This is not working.

I am so glad we could work together despite the earlier problems you had with scheduling an appointment. Please always feel free to reach out here in the Community, and watch for a personal message from someone who may be able to assist you.
It is surprising how easy it is to use the image of a record as you create a new source for your ancestors, and learning how to add details in the image viewer for memories is another great blessing you can pass on to other users. Best wishes as you continue to work at FamilySearch.

Yes, I have other Ancestors that I have wondered how to use the "adding the details."
I'll have to say, I'll need to work on this process a little more when I have translated documents. I certainly thank you for this.
