Indexed gender errors in German records
I have recently come across pages of death records from the Lutheran church in Germany that have the gender of every deceased person listed as female when many of the names are quite distinctly masculine. This goes on for pages so many records are incorrect. I attempted to correct the issue for the family member I noticed was misgendered in the tree but the edit option was not available for correcting the gender. There is not a gender actually specified in the record image.
How can I report this so that FamilySearch can review the indexing on these records and make the necessary corrections??
Below is the link for a page from the church book with these death records as an example. It's Film # 102662760

In the Hungarian baptism indexes, everyone's been changed to male. It's nice to know that they're keeping things balanced. :->
FamilySearch does not have a mechanism in place for re-indexing anything, so I doubt either of these indexes will ever be fixed. We just have to learn not to bother with the "sex" field in the search.

FamilySearch does have a mechanism for fixing errors in records that have previously been indexed incorrectly. I have asked that this thread be moved to the support area that helps with this type of issue.

Thank you, Anne. That's what I was hoping for. As it's a significant number of records, I certainly am not focused solely on the ones I am linked to. 🙂

Yikes! Well, as you said, balance. Haha!
Unfortunately, while I know the records are like this, people just delving into genealogy, like my brother-in-law for whom I had been looking at these records, wouldn't have a clue and some simply don't have the forethought to presume it had been incorrectly indexed.
