Please give us an option to use the old search engine.

The new search engine took away a key efficient search capability that on familysearch did well. In the old engine, when no last name was entered but kids were list and parent names, the results were fantastic! Missing children were found quickly and efficiently. The new search engine does not give the same results. Please don't try to convince me it does. I put in an old search I has used because I was having trouble making the search engine give me some information. Yep the new search engine is not very good. I could not make it give the same results. I'm not saying get rid of the new search engine, just give us the option to toggle to the old one.

Thanks

Suz

I have found the new search engine frustrating. The previous one was quite good and I often would find sources from it that I hadn't found in other places. Now it is the other way around so I avoid using it. Filling in the information to be searched is harder. Maybe there could be a choice between the two search engines. Similar to choices like basic and advanced search engines found in a number of programs.

For all these types of questions, and so the search can be improved, the most important thing to do is give specific examples by entering a search then copying the URL of the results list and pasting it here. This lets everyone see exactly what the search was that you entered and see the same results that you see.

Then you can describe how you wish you could have searched and what results you expected to see. Just saying it doesn't work and that you are not getting the results you thought you should does not help at all. It gives nothing for the programmers to work from. It also gives no one the opportunity to point out how to get the results you want.
