I could use some input. I am assuming the children/wives are written as children/wives of the father/mother/husband. Example in July 12 entry, John Robertson is the father and only Robertson is entered for the one who died. Sept 10 entry would be Nathan Dave as a husband and only surname Dave listed as who died. Am I correct in assuming that?

In the Sept 18 entry, the woman is referred to "the widdow Mahany" Do I enter her as only surname Mahany with the death date?

    Hello,

Having looked at the help guides, my interpretation would be that when an entry says "child of" you enter "Blank" in the deceased's given name field; the surname of the father or mother in the deceased's surname field and the given and surname of the father or mother in those fields. If it says "Son" or "Daughter" of, you can obviously enter the correct sex inthe gender field, but not if it just syas "child".

For a wife, it tells you not to assume a surname from anyone else on the record, so you would enter "Blank" in both the deceased's given and surname fields, "F" in the gender field; "Nathan" in the husband's given field and "Dave" in the husband's surname field.

When it says "the widdow Mahany" you would enter "Blank" in the deceased's given name field; "Mahany" in the Deceased's surname field, and "F" in the gender field.

    I hope this helps.

    Hilary
