Wrong information posted by FamilySearch
Hi,
You have a John Frank Austin 1856 - 1935 - 9XFG-JGF is my great grandfather and I am not sure his middle name is Frank. You have his children listed BUT the parents you have listed are not this John Austin.
My great grandfather was raised by John Merritt Sr (1803-1892) and Rachel Lewis (1807- ). Thru FamilyDNA 111 via my brother, our DNA is from the line of Sanford. Via Ancestry Professional, MY John Austin's (raised as John Merritt) mother is most likely the daughter of John Merritt and Rachel Lewis - Harriet Merritt (1832- ) and father James Veloren Sanford. They never married and James Sanford later married Phoebe Ann Austin. For whatever the reason was John, his wife and the 2 eldest children left NY and showed up in WI as John Austin.
In the 1880 US Federal Census it lists John, Luminda, Blanche and Leon in Hopkinton, NY. The last name being spelled Meiritt. Also listed with them is another son of John Merritt and Rachel Lewis, James Meiritt (Merritt).
I have numerus DNA linages that run through this Sanford linage.
Who do I inform in order to have this corrected?
All my best to you,
Margaret Austin Tokar

Thank you for the quick response and the information. I am sure someone would find this an easy task but at 75 years old I would mess something up. I will send a message to the person who added the parents . . thanks Norm!!!!
