SOURCES -- Please restore the previous method

BACKGROUND: I first began in 2008 as a tester for "New" Family Search (NFS). I am a heavy user of FamilySearch, using it daily.

SOURCES: A change was made within the past year that SUDDENLY made finding sources VERY difficult. I hear this complaint OFTEN from other researchers and ward members. Please, please, please realize we are not computer programmers and need an *EASIER* way to find *ALL* sources for our ancestors.

**Can you RESTORE the previous method of finding sources as it was MUCH easier to use?**

MY PERSONAL NEW METHOD of finding sources (after the recent change in FamilySearch): I started utilizing "trees" in Ancestry.com. At the present time, finding sources in Ancestry.com is MUCH easier (and FASTER) than using FamilySearch.

THREE STEPS REQUIRED (but easier AND faster):

  1. Find all available sources in Ancestry.com;
  2. Sync Ancestry.com tree with FamilySearch. (Only source TITLES and dates -- no details -- will transfer to FamilySearch);
  3. In FamilySearch (for EACH source), click on the ancestry link. Copy the source details from Ancestry and paste source details into FamilySearch.

I still must find all sources in Family Search . . . or some other researcher could wrongly claim my family's sources . . . causing all kinds of problems that will difficult to resolve.  Sources are *STILL* difficult to find (even when I *KNOW* the answers from Ancestry).

NEED a LIST of AVAILABLE SOURCES (for specific location): In Ancestry.com, in addition to offered "hints" to consider, I can also go to another page to view a LIST of all available sources for a SPECIFIC location.

EXAMPLE (Pennsylvania Death Certificates): I have learned that Ancestry.com search engine does NOT always suggest Pennsylvania Death Certificates (and I know Ancestry has Pennsylvania death certificates for 1906-1968). When a Pennsylvania death occurred 1906-1968, I can then go to an area to search all Pennsylvania sources. Those Pennsylvania sources are listed by category, making it easier for me to find the type of source I need.

Sources need to be rethought or restored to the old method. I am a NFS and/or FamilySearch user since 2008. The last change to sources has been discouraging for me, an experienced researcher.

Thank you for all you do, taking the time to read my lengthy message, and for considering making changes (or restoring) method of searching for sources.

    I definitely was *NOT* attempting to promote a commercial website.

    Just wishing for the former way of finding sources to be restored. It was much easier for me to use.

    Thank you for your consideration.
