Messages Email help

I've never used the messages on familysearch before, so I have zero idea of how to even use the messages page.

That being said, I just received an email saying I had two messages and to click the "View Messages" button to see them.

I clicked on the button and it opened up a message page to start a new message. There are no messages for me to read.

I'm very confused and a bit irritated because one of the messages it says I have is from a branch that I found was my father's biological family a few years ago and nobody bothered to tell me or my mom about them. So, I'm anxious to see this message.

Can someone help me?

    Where are you looking for your messages? Bear in mind that there are two message systems - one via Community and one via the main Family Search.

    To access the first, click on the envelope icon while in Community.

    To access the second go to the main home page on Family Search and click the icon that looks like a message.

    The message icon takes me to the page to start a new message. That's it. There are no messages there for me to read.

    The envelope icon says no messages.

    I will send you messages in both systems. Let me know what happens including which email address you receive the notification.

    I did not get any email notification. I just happened to be checking and saw both of your messages. I really dislike technology at times.

    I assume that the messages you received email notifications for did not show alongside my messages. Seems curious that you did not receive email notifications for my messages having previously received notifications.

    It will be worth checking your notification settings.

    On the main FamilySearch page

    1. Click your name (top right)
    2. Click Settings in the drop down menu
    3. Click the notifications tab.

    I am confused by an error I made and can't seem to unmake. I've entered two persons who shouldn't be there in between my Grandparents. One is my Mother, who is listed below them as well, and I can't merge or delete her. The other is some male marked unknown, so I can't just delete him. I hope someone can help me sort this out. Thanks.

    @Annette8146, if you go to Gaetana's profile details page, you'll see that she has somehow acquired an extra parent-child relationship with just her father. To remove it, scroll down to the Family Members section, find the extraneous relationship, and click the pencil after Gaetana's name.

    In the resulting popup, click one of the "remove or replace" links and follow the prompts, choosing "remove". Don't worry, you're not removing her father or anything like that, you're just removing the extraneous relationship.
