My name is Sheldon and my family name is Goudie and I live in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. I am 99 % confident that my ancestors that carry that name originated in Scotland, or at the very least in the Orkney or Shetland Islands to the north. I believe the men of Orkney or Shetland may have been recruited to work for the Hudson's Bay Company sometime in the early to mid 1800's and were passengers on several boats out of England. These boats picked up potential workers from the islands which eventually made landfall in James Bay Canada before being dispersed to various posts for the fur trade throughout Upper and Lower Canada, and to Labrador as well. I trace my own lineage back to Labrador via my Great Great Grandfather John Goudie but I can find no information on him or his father who I believe came directly from Scotland. John was born in 1859 at some area of Labrador, although I don't know exactly where but he died in 1908 at Pilley's Island, Newfoundland, after working several years in the mines of the Central part of the Island of Newfoundland. My question to you is how can I best track the potential passenger lists that would include John's father as I believe John was born in Canada. Unfortunately I don't even have a name for John's father which makes the search much more arduous. Any information provided would be a great help! Thank you.

Hi! I'm looking for "YesToSpinach." I found the attached post that YesToSpinach made several years ago, however, I have not been able to connect with YesToSpinach. I am researching the Hendricks family history and the history of the wife of Alonzo Hendricks. I am a relative of Alonso Hendricks. My understanding is that his wife's family came through the Cayman Islands to Honduras. One of these relatives was Jane Lambert. I do hope to connect with YesToSpinach or someone else who may have some information on this family.
