Future records

I check the site below for periodic updates of records that are becoming available on FamilySearch.

Those updates are only for indexed records that are organised into a Historical Record Collection. Only a minority of records are in a HRC. Most are in the Catalog, unindexed. There is no list of newly added records in the Catalog, so you have to keep checking the place(s) you are interested in on a regular basis.
As for future records, the FamilySearch Wiki does mention some HRCs that are planned for future release, but for other records there is no public announcement.

It has long been a criticism of mine that FamilySearch does not at least "whet the appetite" of users by pre-announcing the imminent release of new material to its website.
One website I use has a "Soon to come.." list, as well as one for "Further down the road...", so gives its users the knowledge that the object of their interest will be published in the not-too-distant future, even though no exact timescales are indicated.
Maybe other users prefer to be "pleasantly surprised" at a set of records suddenly becoming available, but I would prefer to have at least some idea a release is in the pipeline. Knowing this could even stop me spending a fair bit of money in obtaining copies of records from a record repository or a commercial undertaking!

I speculate that FamilySearch would not pre-announce the release of collections because things go wrong, other collections or projects get a higher priority for some reason, legalities change or are delayed, or any number of issues.
If the collection doesn't arrive at the designated time, people complain etc etc.
